Piet Mondran Mural- PreK

 




This project took some preparation, but was worth it.  For the PreK three year olds, I drew a Mondrian line design then photocopied it so that they could just glue the rectangles and squares to fit in-between the lines I made.  The PreK four year olds were given the black lines along with the red, blue and yellow shapes to make their own design on a blank piece of paper.  All designed were placed together to make one big mural.  The class first did a bubble map describing Piet Mondrian's work before we started.  This year our school has implemented Thinking Maps which has been really enriching to any of the lessons.  Here's a bubble map (you write or draw whatever it is that you'd like the students to describe in the middle):
