Group Sculpture in the Style of Henry Moore- Eighth Grade

This was the last big project for our eighth graders.  Each student created their own sculpture in the round using only organic shapes much like the famous sculptor Henry Moore.  A materials list and description of project is here:

After each student painted with gesso then a metallic color of their choice, all their individual pieces were hot glued together to form one sculpture.  I elected two students toward the end of the year that showed a special interest to do the job.  The two students spent a whole class period talking about and making aesthetic choices.  It was great fun to witness.

This is the eighth great monument the students are leaving behind to represent the Class of 2013!  I'm so proud of them in making the decision to leave a little piece of themselves at our school.
Here is the pre and post test that I provided the students with as well.

One student was having a little too much fun in the gesso process.  Although he was off task, I had to snap this shot before he washed the paint off, it just looked way too cool not to.
