Students in Preschool and Prekindergarten looked at various masks from around the world, then talked about artists being inspired by masks. We then looked at the artwork of artist Lois Mailou Jones and discussed the influence of African masks in her paintings. Students were given a printout of Jone's work and used chalk pastels to color the shapes found in the African mask design.
