Still life of Fruit- First Grade

Day 1:  Students looked at and discussed the many kinds of still-life paintings throughout the ages as a class.  We also spoke about using overlapping techniques to create a sense of space in a work of art.  They were then given 12"X18" paper.  After drawing a line toward the bottom of the paper as the table, students began painting the table one color and the background another color.
Day 2: Students were given a pre-cut bowl to glue to the background.  They were also given a worksheet of various fruits to color using oil pastels.
Day 3: Students started cutting their colored fruit out and gluing them in the bowl, paying special attention to overlapping and collage techniques.
