Landscape and Seascape Value Study- Third Grade

Students were able to choose a single color to mix with black for the foreground and white for the background.  For the middle ground, the color of their choice was used without any color mixed with it.   Students were able to choose any color of paint for the sky.
This project is wonderful because it covers a lot of concepts in art such as the element of space (foreground, middle ground and background), atmospheric perspective (color appears to fade with distance) and value (darks and lights of the same color).  Students also love the project because it involves paint and can be created relatively quickly!
